Mark Sauder joined the Puritan Board in 2016. He currently serves as President and Director of both Puritan as well as its parent, Puritan Life Insurance Company. In addition, he serves as President and Director of BlueShore Insurance Company, a Colorado domiciled P&C company. Mr. Sauder has held executive management positions with BlueShore since its acquisition in 2014. From 2002 through 2014 he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for DriveTime Automotive Group. Mr. Sauder grew up in Indiana and has a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University with a major in accounting.
Wayne Schreck has been a member of the Puritan Board since 2014. Mr. Schreck holds a BA in Actuarial Science from the University of Illinois and has over 40 years of insurance experience. He has served as president of several insurance companies, including American Founders Life Insurance Company and World Service Life Insurance Company. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
Ken Phillips has been a member of the Puritan Board since 2008. During his fifty-year career in the life insurance industry, Mr. Phillips held senior level positions covering all aspects of the operations and financial management of the life insurance business; including ten years as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of American Income Life Insurance Company, and twenty years as president and CEO of various other companies, including the life insurance companies of Lomas Financial Group, The National Financial Group, and IFS Financial Corp. Mr. Phillips holds a BA in Mathematics/Economics from the University of Texas. He is a Chartered Life Underwriter and Fellow of the Life Management Institute.
Nancy Young has been a member of the Puritan Board since 2014. Mrs. Young has served as the Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of Verde Investments, Inc., since 1992. She has also held other executive positions in the insurance industry, including serving as the Treasurer and Director of Columbia Universal Life Insurance Company from 2004 to 2006. Mrs. Young is an Arizona certified public accountant and graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in accounting.
Steven Johnson has been a member of the Puritan Board since 2014. Mr. Johnson has served as the Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel of Verde Investments, Inc., since 1992. He also serves as a director and officer of BlueShore Insurance Company, a Colorado property and casualty insurance company (acquired in 2014). Mr. Johnson is an Arizona licensed attorney practicing in the areas of commercial real estate and financing, insurance organizations and consumer sales finance. He holds a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Arizona College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northern Arizona University.
